We will never have edgy original art because of the pervasiveness of "Political Correctness". No one wants to accidently offend anyone so as a result many pieces of art and real discussions of substance don't occur anymore.

Have you ever seen a cross, flowers, and stuffed animals etc., on the side of the road where a life was lost-or in front of a house (or other location)? A wall plaque is the same thing, only in a high traffic, public place it's more tidy.

      You sir, are a MORON.

Put a plaque to commemorate someone's death? Have you put any fucking thought into what comes out of your mouth?

The art piece, according to the sign near the installation, was celebrating the accomplishments of African American culture in this town.

INsensitive is what comes to mind when reading the in-print version of this story and the by-line; "Silva's sculpture near IUPUI takes a fall."
1; A public 'Thank You' should be given to those responsible for making the decision to take it down.
2; A donation drive should be going on to help pay for the removal AND re-installation of the art piece to another location.
3; A permanent memorial plaque should be mounted on the street level wall where the young Mr. Somerville fell to his death and should include a reminder, of sorts, not to mess around on any balconies as the reality can be death.
I love the city of Indianapolis and the direction it is going in.
It would be great if someday, Indy was to art, as Nashville (Tn.)
