What an uplifting story - hearing about restaurant workers overcoming their fears to improve their futures by seeking the guidance of UNITE HERE. Trusting and supporting each other (solidarity) empowered them to seek union recognition from their employers. Employers like Chartwells sit down with workers' representatives to find mutually agreed pathways to agreement on problematic issues - a win, win situation. Hotel owners and managers should follow Chartwells' example. Indianapolis spent millions supporting the hospitality industry and, at the very least, we deserve corporate citizens who exhibit ethical business practices and share the wealth with their workers.
