Is this another Hammer satire on left wing wackos? It works.
Seems liberals think everyone else but them are racists. Hmmm. They love to label as does Hammer. Here is an idea...
send Hammer to where there is almost total equality and no pesky rich people to ruin things..send Hammer there for a month and write a column about it...how about it Hammer got the guts? The place is Haiti.
Maybe doing away with the First Amendment would be a good idea too. Why? Too much crap on TV, in the press and from Hammer himself. There is more wasted verbage than bullets.
In Washington's day, folks were erudite and smart. Now,
dumb, thoughtless and non-critical thinkers. Maybe banning orange hair, violent movies that solve problems with bullets not banter, are the real problem. Oh, and Steve don't step on someone's shoes while riding mass transit, you might get shot.
Let's see, how about a rail line from downtown up to Fishers...oh...wait we
had one, it was called the MONON. But the morons of the Monon trail thought
we should have a bike/ped trail. The land and tracks were there and we
tore them up. Nice democratic bungling of tax dollars.
No high speed rail anywhere pays for its operation...except Japan's. And it
is way to expensive for a small niche of obsessive rail freaks, who probably won't use it anyway. It is just a new toy for them. The half bus/train is the
best solution as it is very flexible and can be adjusted to new routes.
Hammer belongs to the 1%. The 1% that scoffs at anything and everything where people gather en mass to enjoy themselves. Locals are enjoying the NFL Experience downtown for $20, and most are the 99%. Game tickets can run $2,500 up but so do many vacations to Europe and Asia. Does Hammer scorn travel too?
Look up curmudgeon in Wikipedia. It says: see Hammer's column.
Now Hammer, during NFL day, get thee to your rickety front porch, with the old tattered couch on the front, get your corn cob pipe, get your case of PBR's, get your tobacco, prop up your feet on an old electrical wooden spool and watch the game with you antenna TV balanced on an old orange crate. Don't forget to yell "howdy" to passersby.
I think Hammer is being facetious in his article. This is NOT the longshoreman case deja vu. However, it IS a labor issue. It "resembles" the longshoreman case in concept. The players are labor and
the owners are the management. Management wants to keep the costs down (player's salaries) and profits up (for them). Simple. The owners make multi-millions through media rights and want to keep it all to themselves. They would pay players $10,000/yr if they could get away with it. I bit of a stretch with importance of "basketball" to national economy, but point made about economics.
Yes, anyone who disagrees with Hammer is a meth addict, gun nut or moonshiner.
You see, he can't stop trash talking, complete destroying his otherwise cogent
eulogy to LBJ. He should have stopped at the last line of LBJ being one of his heroes,
but his ego always rams him in the behind.
But although LBJ did promote the Civil Rights act of 1964, he is still responsible for killing thousands of American soldiers and millions of innocent Vietnamese people with constant bombing of spraying of toxic chemicals like Agent Orange.
Too bad his lost both the Vietnam war and the War on Poverty.
Flash: communities have always existed and we still have local merchants. We didn't have Locally, grown organic food then, but were on the wave of fast and convenient food. We did have lots of local diners that imported food. Remember A&P?
The marginal organic movement started in the late sixties and is more popular
today. Hammer commits the fallacy of rearview mirror history. aka, the "good old days". Bet he thinks there was there a recycle and green movement back then too. Take a break from 420, Hammer
and drop down to Earth once in awhile. The dangers are not in the Twilight Zone, but Hammer's columns.
