Dance Kaleidoscope: Magical Mystery Tour

Dance Kaleidoscope: Magical Mystery Tour Revisit the 1960’s with local dance company Dance Kaleidoscope. Performing David Hochoy's moving Magical Mystery Tour, Dance Kaleidoscope couples the power of mime with an energized passion for our favorite Beatles hits to create an audience favorite. The piece combines the extensive Beatles canon to create a cohesive two-act dance-story. 16 songs trace the universal saga of youthful abandon giving way to mature introspection. Expect to hear favorites like “Here Comes the Sun” and “The Long Winding Road.” The performance will touch your heart, mind and gut throughout.

Miller Lite Carb Day Carburetion Day is a time to celebrate traditions, with classic rock and lots and lots of beer. This year, certified tragedy-overcomers Lynyrd Skynyrd are the headliners of choice, performing at 3:30 p.m. We'll place bets right now that they'll play all of their hits — from 'Free Bird' to 'Sweet Home Alabama' to 'Saturday Night Special.' There's plenty to see before that — including the final practice before the big race, when pit crews tune the imaginary carburetors that haven't been used in a qualifying car since the early '60s. But we do love the name. $20

Branch Gordon at The Library Restaurant and Pub

Fri., May 25, 5:30 p.m.
branch.gordon@gmail.com

Fans say that Branch's sound combines the rock-blues vocal stylings of John Mayer with the acoustic musings of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz, all mashed up together into great music that is all his own.Born and raised in a small town in Indiana, Branch Gordon began his songwriting career at the impressionable age of 7. Under the strict tutelage of his classical piano instructor, Branch learned the foundations to musical theory for nearly 10 years before being forever corrupted by rock-and-roll.Almost two decades later, this singer / songwriter has transformed into a musical prodigy, able to effortlessly move from keyboards and guitars, vocals and percussion, from the electronic to the analog realm, with an ease and familiarity that is awe inspiring.Branch delivered his first CD Release, titled "Under the Fluorescent Lights" in 2008; a personal tribute to 9-5 working musicians that dream of something more. His original music touches on experiences ranging from painful break-ups to the afterlife. The angry blues rock hit "So Long" describes being fed-up with relationship drama, and is currently enjoying a spot on the top 10 blues-rock chart on GarageBand.com.Produced by William Smith (http://www.myspace.com/producersmith), and under the direction of Tyler Music Group (www.tylermusicgroup.com) in Nashville, TN, Branch released his self-titled E.P. in the summer of 2009.  The demo was recorded at the Sound Emporium, and brought together some of Nashville's finest musicians.
