2008 Mass Ave. Criterium
New Indianapolis bike race announced!
On Saturday, August 16, downtown Indianapolis will host the first of what will hopefully become an annual cycling event when riders compete in a Mass Ave. Criterium presented by the NUVO-Cultural Trail team.
The start line is at 660 Massachusetts Ave., and the race promises to bring elite cycling up close and personal as riders from the Midwest race through the streets of downtown Indianapolis at speeds up to 35 mph competing for cash prizes up to $5,000.
Six races will be held throughout the day, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at noon, for riders in all categories, including an open Women's race at 9:10 a.m. and ending with the Men's Category 1/2/3 race at 11:00.
Race headquarters are at the Athenaeum, and an after race party at the Rathskeller Biergarten features great brats, beer, and live bands. Pedal and Park facilities will be available for spectators who cycle to the event, and a CIBA public ride is planned for later in the evening.
