Re: “Is this Glenda Ritz’s time?

I'm impressed by Tallian but why not? Go for it, Glenda!

Re: “Is this Glenda Ritz’s time?

Oh I would love to see her win and see the faces of Pence and the arrogant education board.

Re: “Mini-trucks now free to roam the roads

Many of these mini-trucks are imported for off road usage only, since they do not meet Federal crashworthiness standards. They were originally developed as light duty delivery trucks for the Asian market. There is little to no protection for the occupants in the event of a crash.

Re: “Is this Glenda Ritz’s time?

Good read David..Ritz manages 8 billion dollars currently and is part of the executive branch, I think a lot of people don't realize that. She is going to win IMO. Indiana is tired of being ran by "religion" alone.

The son of two dear friends died of a gunshot wound just yesterday here in Indianapolis. So unnecessary...

Re: “Your kid and my kid are not playing in the pros

Tony 1414 As a junior high and highschool coach you couldn't be more spot on! If more parents would just be fans at school athletic events and cheer for their own student/athlete, rather than yelling at the coach, other players, or officials..... The kids wouldn't be so confused about who to listen to or even worse scared to not turn and look at their parents during the game. Parents do everything they can athletically when the child is young, but once they start competitive school athletic events, parents let the coaches do their job. Which is much easier to do if the parents have the coaches back. Even if you don't fully understand their strategy. They went to school for this, if you trust them so will your kids.

Re: “Your kid and my kid are not playing in the pros

As the daughter of an athletic director and basketball and track coach, I have a few things I'd like to say. One, I love basketball. Point blank period, I excelled at it and because my dad was my coach my sister and I worked twice as hard to earn our starting positions. I played in the State Fair Arena in the state tournament which was truly a dream come true. My sister returned there the next year after I graduated and won the silver ball, the only ball ever won in school history. My dad received All State coach and had two players from that team make all state, which is practically unheard of. I was involved in many other things as well, cheerleading, FFA, student council, and I traveled the country singing. It's a blessing that I was interested in so many things, because when I blew my knee out (ACL, MCL and meniscus) I knew things would never be the same, not in basketball. I came back and played my junior and senior year, but I blew the same knee out two more times. I knew I wasn't going to the WNBA, not as a player anyway. But I also knew that my parents were proud of the effort and commitment I had shown. Just because you don't go pro doesn't mean your influence stops. I've been a basketball coach in the public school systems for ten plus years now, and to me, I get to work with the pro's everyday. Some of these kids will only make it out of the hood, or the slums, or the projects if they can get an athletic scholarship. They make the grades to be able to play. And it doesn't matter to them if it's JuCo, D3,D2,D1AA or D1A, as long as they get to go to school and get out of the way they have been living. That sounds like the pro's to me. Then if they do get drafted, hopefully they will have someone pushing them to get that degree first. Because someday they could be teaching and coaching like me. Your dreams change over the years. Now all I want is to make it into our States Coaches Hall of Fame like my father did. To thank him for always pushing me to be great at the things I chose to do, and not pushing me to do things I just didn't want to. I'm a mother now, with daughters, and as much asci would love to coach them myself someday, I won't force all the time, energy, dedication and possible injury and heartache on them. They will decide on their own and then it will be something they can be proud to own, or proud to walk away from.

Re: “DNR gets an earful about Dunes State Park

DEF: Join Dunesaction.org. Sign the petition there. Donate a few bucks. Write a few letters to the editor in your local newspaper. Write to Governor Mike Pence. Write to the state senators and our federal representatives. Keep talking about this. Keep up the fight. The park belongs to WE THE PEOPLE.....not the for profit corporations.

Re: “The GOP, in pieces

I happen to agree with John Krull on this one. However, I'd add there really is no debate among the republican hopefuls - they are all the same candidate. What could they debate over?

They've all risen from the same right-wing lunacy now masquerading as the GOP - the anti-government crowd which wants to run the federal government. Do any of them representing a self sufficient state? Aren't all the GOPers from red nanny states like IN?

Forget the evangelicals social demands, Gallup polls has shown the country is shifting to the left.

Forget the supply-siders because Thomas Piketty just revealed "trickle-down economics" is a farce.

John is almost apologizing for the fractured GOP. It's well beyond fractured - it's bleeding out right before our eyes.

Re: “IDEM: Indiana Denial of Environmental Management

Duke and others have already complained about home light cellular producing power. They say it reduces their operating income.
T. Boon Pickens moved his wind power site from Texas to Minnesota. The Texas power companies would NOT give him a hookup or buy the production.

Re: “Holy Smoke: Bill Levin's First Church of Cannabis

The Roots of Life church in Noblesville meets in bars and imbibe beer whilst poundering life's mysteries, so why not this? It's not my grandma's religion, but it's religion getting real. I don't smoke or do drugs myself, but I am enjoying hearing of the consequences of Indiana's narrow minded, discriminating legislators actions, and the Governor's totally untransparent signing of this bill. Attorneys are going to have a profitable time with this one!

Re: “The quest to dam White River

Obviously no one has watched the documentary Dam Nation... There is no need for a dam in Indiana. Especially since they have been removing dams across the US. Really, who builds dams these days?

Re: “Your kid and my kid are not playing in the pros

There is a great deal of truth in what the good doctor has to say, but, we did what he says may be harmful. Why we did it was not to get our kids into the pro's. It was to keep them active instead of playing video games, teach them that hard work does pay off, teach them team work, teach them sacrifice. We did it as a family, not just our family but a baseball family. Both sons played in college and one in the pro's. We got luckey, but we would not trade the experience for anything.

Re: “Stop the Mounds Lake project

The Cook family is behind this push and will profit by the millions.

The relocation of the Anderson Mall will be on Cook property.
The border of nearly 40 acres in town, lake front property is owned by the Cook family.
The buy out of the Anderson Mall property owned by the Cook family.
The increase of property value will impact Cook family property the most.

This has Cook Family influence written all over it !
