Re: “The overwhelming irony of natural destruction in the name of veterans

Maybe they should talk to veterans who will not be able to afford their own burials, unlike the author who is clearly financially secure. Even in the death, officers have the choice not to consort with the enlisted because they can afford it. #NoWarButClassWar - Deanna Erickson USARMY 2003-2006 SPC <---- That means I worked for a living.

Re: “Ask Renee: Saving Indianapolis' 300-year-old forest

I love the idea of protecting old growth forests in Indiana, but is this picture just a grove of trees and not the actual old growth in question? If this is 'pre-settlement' forest, why are the trees apparently planted in rows? Just wondering what's really going on...

Re: “Ask Renee: Saving Indianapolis' 300-year-old forest

I love the advances my home town has made over the last several years. It has become a vibrant, exciting place to live. Its history, however, hasn't always been so kind. Too many historic buildings were not preserved and cannot now be replaced. The idea of ripping out an old growth swath of land is abominable. Once done, it cannot be restored.

Re: “Cannabis and Indiana's opportunity for compassionate care

Cbd only is not enough for most patients. THC and cbd work together to provide balance. Education is key here. She started out as pushing for full legalization and has since backed off to cbd only for some not all. While I applaud her efforts she has taken baby stepping to an extreme level with this stance and needs to remember it was mj convictions and discrimination and tax waste that brought her into this fight and cbd oil is obtainable at health food stores. Just isn't enough. I hope she will take stronger stances in the future and not continue backsliding.

Re: “The agony and the ecstasy of NFL football

"Their largest margin of victory in 2014 was 13 points. "

I must have dreamed up that 27-0 shutout of the Bengals. And the 44-17 win at JAX. And the 41-17 win over the Titans. And the 40-24 win over the Giants. And the 23-3 win over JAX in Indy. Oh, AND the 22-point win over Washington. And the 17-point win at Tennessee. And the 17-point win over Cincy in the playoffs.

Did you, um, Wikipedia the wrong year? Because 2014 was the year "when they were good and going to the AFC Championship Game."

"Football is dumb and I don't understand anything about it."

I believe you.

Re: “Ask Renee: What do you do with really, really, really old shoes?

Most of my old shoes are used for grass cutting or working in the garden. As for old linens, here is a funny story. Back when I was on the Checker Hockey fan club , we used them to make banners. The sheets came from a local funeral home.

Ack! This may be good for the local environment but it's not good for the countries where are our castoffs are sent. Unless you know that the donation center won't turn around and sell what they don't use, best to figure out a way to use it ourselves (rags, stuffing for a dog bed, tied into rag rugs, etc.) than to donate to a place where they're unlikely to be used and instead baled and sent elsewhere.

Chaka Khan WAS the opening act that night (Her sound was terrible). Then there was about an 1 1/2 break before Prince came on.

Re: “Def Leppard's Joe Elliott on life, death and new songs

I saw DL back when I was 16 during the Hysteria tour, and I can honestly say it remains the best concert I went to, and I've seen over 200 concerts easily, ranging from Rock to Country to you name it. I was thrilled to take my 15 yr old to see DL two nights ago near Houston & they were just amazing! My kid said on her FB page that it was the best concert she's ever been to. So awesome to share the love of this band's music with my kid, DL is truly timeless and I'm so happy they're still touring. And dear Lord, Phil Collen looks freakin HOT for his age. I told my kid I lied, and that's her real daddy, lol!
