A new Bag End
Of hobbits, dance and unrequited siding.
Thanks to my friend Richard for this story, on real life Hobbits that lived 18,000 years ago:
Bag End found in the Indonesian island of Flores
In other, more personal news ... well, I haven't posted in a while. Since my last post, I saw a rather disappointing show at the Phoenix, a rather good rendition of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" at Beef & Boards, a really disappointing show at Footlite and the charming "When Strangers Meet" at Epilogue.
In my outside of work life, I started my second religion class that I am taking through a scholarship from the Religion Newswriters Foundation. Last semester, I took Native American Religions at IUPUI from Dr. Johnny Flynn. HE ROCKS. This is a man who is so well-educated and so passionate about his material that he can inspire passion in just about anyone. This time around, I am sad to say, my prof isn't quite so ... interesting. I am taking Introduction to Religions, and the man couldn't give a definition of Intelligent Design. Enough said.
Also, I began a belly dance workout through the Parks Department. The teacher is Judy Hanna (bellydancingbyjudy@sbcglobal.net) and she is very enthusiastic and has a great attitude and a happy disposition. And she works our butts off! Tuesday, my boyfriend and I will begin Beginning Ballroom through the Parks Department, so we shall see how that goes. But during the summer I took Adult Learn to Swim classes through the Parks, and so far every experience I have had has been above and beyond expectations, and at remarkably affordable prices.
Also last week, my boyfriend and I went to the home remodeling show at the Convention Center. It was nice, but not very big. We entered all the drawings and all I have won is used up minutes on my cell phone from people who now want to sell me things I can't afford. I was really hoping that this year I would have a decent tax return, as my one big house goal right now is new siding, since what I have is circa 1970 alluminum, and it has mold growing on it. I had someone from Windows & Siding of Indianapolis, Inc. come out and give me a quote. They gave me a awesome price on some beautiful siding -- and good stuff, too, not the cheap crap. And, best of all, they are LOCAL. But alas, my tax return was less that what I needed for a decent downpayment, which would mean the monthly payments would be too high. However, if you make more money that I do (and few people don't), and you are in the market for new siding, I highly reccommend Windows & Siding of Indianapolis, Inc.
So, enough crying in my beer for the time being. Check out the hobbits and take a class from the Parks Department.
