Demonstration Pow Wow: A Celebration of Indiana’s Native American Heritage

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - What is a Pow Wow and why is it important to Native American culture? The Indiana State Museum invites you to enjoy a day of experiencing Native American culture, history and language on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, with a demonstration Pow Wow. There will be traditional songs on the drum and flute, and dancers performing in traditional regalia. Visitors can also talk with craftsmen and artists, and join the dancers in the dance circle.
On Friday at 10 a.m. as part of the Demonstration Pow Wow, Governor Daniel's Senior Advisor for Minority Affairs, Jamal Smith, will represent the Governor’s office and read a proclamation, proclaiming November Native American Heritage Month.
