BIO: Istari was conjured up by frontman Gabriel Glass and lead guitarist Adam Gotch in late 2004. Glass and Gotch then persuaded bassist Marshall Kreeb to leave the Indianapolis-based group he was playing in and join them in producing a 5-song demo on a no-string budget (that's $0.00 for those keeping track).

After work was finished on the demo, many area musicians cited interest in becoming part of the project, so the trio set out to fill the remaining spots from a large roster of talented and accomplished guitarists and drummers. Todd Ickes, friend of Gotch, moved 350 miles from Canton, OH to Indy where, after an impressive audition, the group determined that he was the preordained drummer for the band. Kreeb then suggested the others consider his long time friend, guitarist Toby Russell for the final spot. Russell, then a member of a popular Lafayette group, was indeed a perfect fit and joined as the members were fleshing out a new skeleton of songs for an upcoming ep entitled: Four Blood Curdling Tales of the Macabre.

With the fellowship set firmly in place, the band continues to make a name for itself through its original and compelling songwriting style, able musicianship, and deep, often times sarcastic subject matter.
