BIO: Indianapolis band Eisenhower Field Day gets their organic hybrid of energetic, melodic music by skimming the sweet cream from the various forms of '80s-'90s below-ground rock.
Eisenhower Field Day began writing and recording new material as a trio in late 2001. Their potent combination of oblique guitar, wistful harmonies, and brisk, powerful drumming drew attention, and their 7-song 2003 EP, Our Time in the Colonies, drew raves, with irresistible lead single "Don't Throw Away," a classroom lament as catchy as it is heartbreaking, and "Exit 51," a fiery ode to day jobs, truck stops, and the midwestern highway.
Unlucky listeners who've been missing out can catch up now, as the EP is a bonus on the disc of their new long-player on Lesser Note Records, Let's not tell lies, 10 songs that broaden and deepen the band's emotional and sonic range with the brooding power of "Conversation Lows," the stampeding "Idolize," the light-hearted theocratic doomsaying of "National Sunday Law," and the churning voodoo of "Recently Out Loud."
Eisenhower Field Day are currently winning converts and debuting new material with an expanding schedule of exciting live shows throughout 2006 and 2007.
