BIO: Three years ago, four guys in cuffed Levis stepped off the edge of the Bloomington music scene to form the Phantom Cruisers. Spawning from a background entrenched in the high-speed rhythms of classic punk rock, the four rockers of the Phantom Cruisers have stepped back into the rock & roll roots of the 50s…with a kick, offering up the traditional sounds of rockabilly with an undercutting edge that would make the Man in Black proud. The Phantom Cruisers, while stationed mainly in the limited Midwest, have hit the radio waves worldwide, broadcasting from Spain to Argentina. Having played everything from basements to bars to car shows, the band’s edgy beat and crooning vocals not only draw fresh young faces to the rockabilly scene, but also appeal to the original baby boomers of the 50s. Their first EP, “One for the Road,” was released in 2004. But they’re not stopping at that; the rock of the Phantom Cruisers continues to roll. - K.D.
