The women of Saffire: The Uppity Blueswomen — pianist Ann Rabson, guitarist Gaye Adegbalola and bassist Andra Faye — have thankfully booked an Indianapolis venue for their farewell tour. Their Oct. 20 gig at the Slippery Noodle comes only a few weeks before their final performance in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The concert is a homecoming for Faye, a Rocky Ripple native who joined the band in 1992. While she's chiefly a bassist for Saffire, she's also a student of the Mandolin Blues Gospel According to Yank Rachell. When the current members of Saffire — which came together 25 years ago, with members Rabson, Adegbalola and Earlene Lewis on bass — go their separate ways, none will leave music behind completely. Each of the ladies has recorded solo albums. Faye has one, Walkin’ Home To You, which features The Mighty Good Men; Rabson has laid down three piano-driven albums; and Adegbalola's latest solo release Gaye Without Shame is a fun, in-your-face album that speaks to both the blues world and the GLBTQ community. Tickets are $15 for the 8:30 p.m. show.
