Yorn to play Luna
by Steve Hammer Jun 28, 2006

While he’s in town for his Wednesday, July 5 gig at the Music Mill, Pete Yorn isn’t going to spend his afternoon at the hotel watching Oprah. Nope, he’s going to play a free show at Luna’s new store at 52nd Street and College Avenue, starting at 5 p.m. The show will be recorded and released as an EP called You and Me Live at Luna Music. You can get the EP free if you pre-order Yorn’s next album, due out Aug. 29, at Luna. A big crowd can be expected for Yorn’s show at Luna. Remember, early is “on time” and “on time” means you’re late.

A landmark show of sorts will take place this Friday at the Rouge, the club that once was known as the Patio. Mudkids and others will be performing in one of the venue’s first live shows since changing names last year.

In other news, the final lineup of Lollapalooza has been set. The show will be held Aug. 4-6 at Grant Park in Chicago. With three days, eight stages and 150 bands, the show will redefine what Lollapalooza has meant. Kanye West, Ryan Adams, Death Cab For Cutie, the Violent Femmes and many, many more will perform. See the entire rundown at lollapalooza.com. Three-day passes for the event are $150.

If you were planning on attending the “Up Close & Personal Tour” featuring Chris Brown & Ne-Yo at Verizon Wireless Music Center this summer, take note that both the on-sale date and the show date have been changed. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, June 30 and the show itself will be held Friday, Aug. 18.

Among the most memorable shows I’ve seen all year, the exhibition lives up to its claims: There’s nothing sweet about it -- and yet the work is, almost...
