Ye olde ren faire
The Fourth Annual Fishers Renaissance Faire will be held on the grounds of Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Road in Fishers, Oct. 4-5, 10 a.m.-to 6 p.m. daily, rain or shine.
This year’s theme is “Year of Romance,” which will be reflected in many of the shows. Each day, the faire will culminate in a non-denominational mass renewal of vows in period fashion for anyone interested.
The festival features 12 entertainment sites as well as performances throughout the lanes. Performers at the faire include the Knights of Valour Joust Troupe, Black Rose Caravan belly dance troupe with II Troubadore, Conjurations with Argyle Graehme, period music by the Dragon Scale Consort, dance by Gabriela & On a Trade Wind, comedy by the Hey Nonny Nonny Players, Jigs & Reels Irish dance and music, English longbow demonstrations and competitions by the Order of St. Sebastian, dueling by The Rogue Blades, period demonstrations of daily life as well as battle by the Society for Creative Anachronism, The Royal Falconer, Tudor Rose Players with Queen Elizabeth I, Scottish Highland Games, maypole dancing, M’Lady Equestrians, Reformation! Sunday morning worship service, Shakespeare “On the Run,” a Fantastical Costume Contest and much more, including various vendors and children’s activities.
Tickets at the gate are $8, $5 for children age 5-12 (save 25 percent by buying advanced tickets). The faire is the primary fund raiser for the Sister Cities Association of Fishers, which uses the money to foster cultural understanding via sponsored academic/cultural exchanges and academic scholarships.
