It’s an indisputable fact: Tim McGraw is one of — if not the — biggest artists in country music today. Eleven of his 12 albums have debuted at No. 1; he has scored 21 No. 1 singles and three Top Five hit duets with his wife Faith Hill; garnered three Grammys and numerous other industry awards; and his 2004 duet with hip-hop artist Nelly, “Over and Over,” spent 13 weeks at the top of the “Billboard” Top 100 Pop charts.
But McGraw is not one to rest on his laurels. After spending two years on the road with Hill on one of the music business’ biggest multiyear tours of all time — “Soul2Soul” — McGraw has embarked on his “Live Your Voice Tour” this month. Sure to be among the set list for these shows are the five singles from his 2007 “Let It Go” CD, as well as many of the other fan favorites from his 17-year musical career.
McGraw’s duet with Nelly isn’t his only foray into another musical genre: He co-wrote and sang on “Nine Lives,” the first single from Def Leppard’s “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge” album released last month.
As if his home life with Hill and their three daughters and his musical endeavors have not kept McGraw busy enough, there’s his acting career (the films “Friday Night Lights,” “Flicka” and “The Kingdom”), minority ownership of the Arena Football League Nashville Kats, and the numerous charitable efforts he and his wife have contributed to. In one of their most substantial charity efforts, they took part in bringing supplies to Hurricane Katrina victims in Gulfport, Miss., and performing at several benefit concerts for those displaced by the storm.
