David Cassidy
Indiana State Fair
Wednesday, Aug. 15

The David Cassidy concert was everything you would imagine. Cassidy sang pop songs, and swooning women threw things on stage — no hotel keys or panties, but plenty of “Partridge Family” records and “Tiger Beat” posters. The audience was small, but rabid. Cassidy had to stop mid-song a few times because of women screaming and tugging at him.

His 57-year-old voice was strong and his touring band solid. He played up his former teen idol reputation and gave the crowd what they wanted: stories about the “Partridge Family,” a little hip shaking and his iconic songs. He sang “I Think I Love You,” “I'll Meet You Halfway,” “I Woke Up in Love This Morning” and “Cherish.” The encore included a respectable hard-rocking version of Cream’s “Crossroads.”
