Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean
Indiana State Fair
Friday, Aug. 10

Aug. 10 proved to be another hot one in Indiana, with temps in the 90s, but that didn’t stop the fans that gathered at the Indiana State Fair. With country musicians Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts performing, the heat wasn’t going to spoil the fun.

The show started with Aldean and his band playing the first set. Sound vibrated bleacher seats, reaching everyone in attendance. They played the hits “Hicktown,” “Amarillo Sky,” “Johnny Cash” and “Laughed Until We Cried,” prepping the audience for country sensation Rascal Flatts.

With night approaching, Flatts turned it up a notch. The band came out with fireworks — literally — bursting out of the stage, singing their hit song “Me and My Gang.” The show continued with colorful stage-light and video effects, outstanding guitar, drum, piano and even fiddle solos, impeccable vocals and a level of energy that put the crowd into a loud frenzy.

Flatts proved loyalty to fans by taking song requests from the audience. Band members encouraged the crowd to chant, and lead singer, Gary LeVox, sang into a fan’s cell phone. “Why aren’t you here? We’re all havin’ a big party!” he said to the person on the other end.

A party it was, and Flatts brought it all night. Other highlights included the songs “Feels Like Today,” “Bless the Broken Road” and “What Hurts the Most,” to name a few. The award-winning band started with fireworks and ended with fireworks at the end of “Life is a Highway.”
