Afghan artist Lida Abdul creates art in a variety of media dealing with the destruction and political upheaval that has ravaged her country. Abdul fled Afghanistan in the late 1980s but returned in 2001 to stage video-based works exploring interconnections between architecture and identity.
Abdul will give a free talk April 10 in the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s DeBoest Lecture Hall from 6-7 p.m. An exhibition of her works opens April 11 and continues through Sept. 28. The IMA is located at 4000 Michigan Road. For more information, call 317-923-1331 or go to www.ima-art.org.
