Jennifer Rene sings for producers Armin van Buuren and Tiësto

Singer Jennifer Rene lives a dual life: By day, she walks among us, just another Hoosier; but by night, she is an international celebrity.

Rene has become famous for her vocal work with world-renowned DJs and producers Tiësto and Armin van Buuren. She got her start in the music industry when her CD wound up in the hands of the legendary record label Armada Music, which paired her with the well-known producers.

“Armin van Buuren has been a huge support from the start,” she says. “Being [that] he’s one of the top DJs/producers in the world and having him sign and play my music all over the world means a lot. [It’s] been such a dream come true. He has a huge following, and people pay attention to what he plays. Getting to sing alongside him at his Armin ‘Live In’ events that took place in New York and Los Angeles this past summer were huge exposures for me.

“I think a lot of people connect with the lyrics I’m writing,” continues Rene. “They see I’m just a regular person who has a dream just like them. If anything, the amount of success I’ve achieved in such little time has given me the proof that this is what I was meant to do in this life.”

Rene’s true passion is to become a nationally recognized DJ, and her singing career has provided her with many opportunities to pursue and reach that goal. According to Rene, her toughest battle thus far has been in the arena of gender politics: Because electronic music has been traditionally dominated by men, her triumphs are often overlooked.
