Country Charity Jam 2
8 Seconds Saloon, 111 N. Lynhurst Drive
Friday, April 18, 6 p.m., 21+, donations accepted

This Friday, a few local country music bands will team up with a couple of nationally touring acts to help raise money for a very worthy cause.

Phillip Steven & The Open Road, Blue River, Josh Mahoney and the Second Chance Band will join Tommy Steele & The Steele Canyon Band and Ridge Runner for Country Charity Jam 2, a benefit for Michael Ray Soots. The 7-year-old Martinsville resident has hypothalamic hamartoma, a disease that causes seizures.

As he grows older, Michael’s seizures will become more severe, most likely causing permanent brain damage. Soots will be undergoing brain surgery soon, and numerous fundraising events have been put together to help defray the expenses involved with the operation and lengthy recovery.
