Web exclusive: A ‘Pearl’y new box set

“Live at the Gorge 05/06”
Pearl Jam
Rhino/WEA
4 stars

Three full concerts span seven CDs in a nifty (and inexpensive) box set recorded in September 2005 and July 2006 at the Gorge in George, Wash. All eight of Pearl Jam’s studio albums are well represented here, as are a ton of B-sides. Think you’re burnt on hearing “Even Flow”? Check out the nine-minute version, complete with a blistering guitar solo followed by a head-pounding drum solo. Of course no Pearl Jam show would be complete without a nice selection of covers. Tom Petty’s “I Won't Back Down,” Neil Young’s “Fuckin’ Up” and Victoria Williams’ “Crazy Mary” are all included. Key tracks: “Animal,” “Army Reserve” and “Severed Hand.”
