Ain’t no party like a Super Bowl party (when the Colts are in it)

Let’s face it; will there be a bar, restaurant or sidewalk vendor in the city not tuned to CBS this Sunday? Nonetheless, we’ve assembled a list of the more memorable spots you can let your blue face rule.

Before Game Day

IUPUI’s Kickoff in the Courtyard: Who does partying better than college students? Join IUPUI’s biggest Colts fans in the University College Courtyard at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 for free food, music and games. Prizes go to the best-dressed Colts fan.

Super Bowl pre-party at the Blind Pig, 147 S. Madison Ave.: Party Saturday night with the music of cover band LemonWheel, starting at 9:30 p.m., no cover.
Stagecoach and the Super Bowl pre-party at Kendall’s Tavern, 1304 Miller St., Shelbyville, www.stagecoach1.com: Country fun from Stagecoach starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Game Day events

Spencer’s Stadium Tavern, 802 S. West St., www.spencerstavern.com: Silver Strike Bowling Tournament at 2 p.m. and Show Us Your Blue Spirit! contest at 4 p.m. Get free hot dogs during halftime.

The Blue Crew Sports Grill, 7035 E. 96th St., www.bluecrewsportsgrill.com: The destination for Colts fans these days, the Grill has three 103-inch televisions and a giant horseshoe-shaped bar forming the center of a giant love note to the boys in blue. Online fans say it’ll be the second-loudest place on Earth Sunday night.

Brass Flamingo Showclub, 4011 Southeastern Ave.: The Flamingo reports it’ll be showing the game Sunday evening, as well as its usual adult fare, which may mark the first time in Indy history that the women of a showclub are upstaged by a bunch of guys in spandex.

Tip Top Tavern, 1341 N. Capitol Ave.: Catch the game on their 10-foot screen.

Radio Radio, 6323 N. Ferguson St.: Self-confessed as being more addicted to English football (soccer, to us Yanks) programming, they just had to switch over to Yank football for this evening.

Stables Nightclub, 6125 Southeastern Ave., stablescountry.com: Big-time Super fun. TV prizes give-aways, blackjack, $5 massive sports buffet.

The Slippery Noodle Inn, 372 S. Meridian St., www.slipperynoodle.com: Catch the game on the BIG BIG screens (emphasis not mine) at the place that probably rivals the Blue Crew Sports Grill for the most Colts-centric decoration job of the month.

Champp’s Americana, 8711 River Crossing Blvd.: The Super Duper Party, which pretty much explains itself. Sponsored by Bacardi and that other weekly Indianapolis publication.

In miami

But what if you’re a hard-core fan who’s already filling up the Coltsmobile to travel down to Miami, Fla., but isn’t one of the lucky few with game-day tickets? Fear not, there’s plenty to do in Miami as well.

Brick’s Nightclub, 66 SW Sixth St., Miami, hosts “THE Miami Party”: Starts Thursday at 10 p.m., with a metric boatload of athletes attending (but probably not any Colts, who presumably have better things to do that night). Check out details at www.thepartymiami.com.

Café Iguana Pines, 8358 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, Fla., 954-433-8787, www.cafeiguanapines: Catch a VIP reception Saturday at 6 p.m. for $15 and come the next day for what they bill as the day’s largest indoor tailgate party and victory after-part.
