The culture, art, food, dance and music of Brazil will be on offer at the Garfield Park Arts Center July 11 with a benefit dinner to raise money for children’s arts programs at the park and a free community concert in the park’s amphitheater.
From 6-8 p.m., there will be a dinner of black beans and rice, grilled meats, fresh vegetables and fried bananas catered by the Brazilian Grill restaurant, plus performances by the Viva Brasil! Arts Academy Children, capoeira master Iuri Santos and dancer Sandro Pereira. Tickets for the benefit dinner are $40 and are available at the Arts Center.
Then, at 8 p.m., there will be a free concert with Ipanema and the Afro-Brasilian reggae band Santos and the Saints. The concert kicks off a capoeira workshop at the park featuring master teachers from around the Midwest. For more information, call 317-327-7035 or go to www.indyparks.org.
