Three and a half stars
Art & Soul

In the oil paintings of the Barcelona-based Nydia Lozano, you can at once see the work of a master figure painter and a master impressionist. In an untitled painting, a pensive young woman, bare-shouldered in a flowing dress, sits in profile. The colors are a rich symphony of pinks, whites and browns. The mirror behind her does not so much reflect as scatter light into billowing waves, suggesting the shape of her thoughts. Also on display are two Pop Art-style paintings by Lee Duggan, the commercial artist who conceptualized the Joe Camel campaign. Pop Art is a little out of the norm for this gallery, however. Owner Wes Dwyer tends to favor contemporary impressionism and there are many fine impressionist pieces on display here. On repeat visits, however, you might find yourself wanting to see a featured artist on these walls (a future possibility, according to Dwyer) in order to mix things up a bit. Exhibit is ongoing. 317-815-8210, www.artandsoulgalleryandframe.com.
