‘Unusual Animals’ frolic at Harrison
by Editors Aug 1, 2007

Asthmatic Kitty Records brings the third Unusual Animals party to the Harrison Center Aug. 3 from 6-10 p.m., featuring Future Rapper, whose release, Land of a Thousand Rappers, is due out on Aug. 7.

Future Rapper will curate a visual arts show including Greg Ajamie, Elizabeth Sparrow Boring, Scott Grow, Cindy Hinant, Kyle Ragsdale, Casey Roberts and SPPR. Future Rapper has chosen pieces by these artists that emphasize “bulbous abstraction and bold color.”

Music begins at 8:30 and will include Actuel/Paren’s hip-hop/free jazz infused electronica, Bronze Float’s folk ballads and fist-pumping drum-boxing by Pope Whiter. Big Car Gallery ventures to the Harrison’s Old Northside ’hood to present “I am another you,” featuring live surrealist theater and music. Finally, Future Rapper (aka Michael Kaufmann) will present a PowerPoint lecture on “temporal collapse.”

Admission is free. The Harrison Center for the Arts is located at 1505 N. Delaware St. Phone 317-238-5489 or go to www.harrisoncenter.org for more information.
