Spirited dancing drives this over-the-top spoof of a slice of New York City life in the Roaring ‘20s. Originally a 1967 film starring Julie Andrews depicting widely divergent roles of women, Civic’s cast gallops through mad-cap comedy. Melissa Schott delights as Millie, Theresa Kolezar finesses Miss Dorothy, Karen Morrow envelops Muzzy, Reine Goldberg nails Mrs. Meers, Nathanael Welch endears as Jimmy, Tobin Strader romps as Trevor and Taylor Slavens as Ching Ho and Bryan D. Padgett as Bun Foo thoroughly touch our hearts. The splendid supporting cast equally delivers good characterization and wows with intricate tap numbers. Robert J. Sorbera directs Civic’s first-ever TMM, with splendid choreography by Michael Worcel and collectively fine design by Ryan Koharchik, Jean Engstrom, Michael J. Lasley and Debbie Williams.
