Thinking of Indy and salivating
by Letter to the Editor Nov 22, 2006

I recently visited my beloved Indianapolis and fell upon a copy of your Best of Indy 2006 Readers’ Choice magazine. I agree enthusiastically with many of the picks and was thrilled to see my old haunt (mid-late 1980s), Alley Cat, so prominently displayed. I was disappointed, however, that Adobo Grill did not receive the Best New Restaurant recognition it deserves because its investor group is not local, but rather out of Chicago a few hours away. I wonder if there was much internal discussion at NUVO regarding whether Adobo rightly belonged on page 3 or page 10 with a questionable footnote.

Living in Dallas/Fort Worth for 16 years has caused this native Hoosier to become an addict to authentic margaritas and Mexican cuisine. Adobo has given me a reason to salivate just thinking of my next visit to Indy. Considering Adobo Grill received the highest number of votes for Best New Local Restaurant, it seems I’m not the only one.

Shenanigans! Shenanigans, I say! I haven't tried Adobo Grill yet, It might be great, but I really suspect that some "WEB 2.0" marketing firm is working overtime promoting it. It's just odd to me how many people seem to need to take to the web to spread the word about a mexican chain restaurant.
