The Mist
by Ed Johnson-Ott Mar 26, 2008

Two and a half stars (R)

Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) directs a scary, cynical and terribly bleak adaptation of Stephen King’s novella about a group of folks trapped in a grocery store with lots of fiendish thingies lurking in the mysterious fog surrounding the town. Plan to do something upbeat afterwards, because this bit of nastiness is going to bum you out. 125 minutes. DVD INFO: Two editions of the film are on sale. The 2-disc special edition includes the film in both color and black and white (Darabont feels the film works best in black and white), plus commentary from Darabont, deleted scenes, and several featurettes.
