I just read your article (Hammer, “Yes, Indy Does Matter,” March 12-19). Steve, you hit the nail on the head with this article. Our “source of news” has gone to hell in a hand basket. As a subscriber to The Star for several years, the quality of the paper, its writers, its overall output is sad compared to smaller, well run newspapers. I travel to cities like Richmond, Va., Louisville and Milwaukee and our paper isn’t even in the minor league compared to their journalistic efforts.

The grave disservice you speak of has related to a downturn of subscribers, including myself, after confirmation from you, that I wasn’t really as blind about what has happened to a once wonderful read ...
