Even after having 51 No. 1 singles, selling over 60 million records and playing for fans around the world for over 25 years, George Strait has maintained a laid-back style of singing and playing his music. As for the sold-out show at Conseco Fieldhouse last week, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Strait, who was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame last year, walked onto the stage to a rousing ovation. Backed by the talented Ace in the Hole Band, Strait captivated the audience with a show that included many of his classics and a few songs from his most recent release, It Just Comes Natural.
Another country music legend, Ronnie Milsap, was the middle act on this tour. During his set, Milsap switched between two keyboards (a third one malfunctioned before he could use it) and performed nearly a dozen of his hits, as well as “You Don’t Know My Love” from his new CD, My Life.
Taylor Swift opened the evening with songs from her debut CD (which was just certified gold), including her Top 5 hit “Tim McGraw” and her latest single, “Teardrops on My Guitar.”
The show was a winning combination of old-school country and the next generation of country music talent.
