Religious doubt
The Indiana Repertory Theatre will present the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning Doubt on its Mainstage Jan. 18-Feb. 9 as part of the OneAmerica Signature Series. It was a tremendous hit on Broadway that closed in May 2007, and it will be the most-produced play on the American not-for-profit regional theater circuit by a factor of two-to-one during this 2007-2008 theater season.
Set against the backdrop of 1964 in a Catholic school in the Bronx, a nun who has no doubt about her beliefs pits herself against a priest who is uncertain. Based on her own instincts, Sister Aloysius concludes that Father Flynn has abused a student. He denies it. The intense and personal power struggle between them ultimately calls into question both faith and justice.
Adult tickets begin at $32, with discounts for students, seniors, military and groups. Tickets can be ordered online at www.irtlive.com or by calling the ticket office, 140 W. Washington St., at 317-635-5252.
