Racing for Recovery: Bret Neylon Night at the Track will be held July 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Major Taylor Velodrome, 3649 Cold Springs Road. The event promises an evening of racing, games, fun and festivities to honor and support Bret Neylon. There is a guaranteed $1,000 purse.

Neylon, a Brownsburg West Middle School history teacher and the high school’s varsity track and cross country coach, fractured neck vertebrae during a bicycle race in Ohio in June. The Bret Neylon Support Fund has been created to help defray the costs of his recovery and rehabilitation.

All riders must hold a valid USA Cycling license to race and be cleared by Indy Parks staff to ride on the velodrome. For more info: 317-327-VELO or www.majortaylor.info.

A 5K run/walk will take place the next day, July 29, at 9 a.m. from Brownsburg High School located at 1000 S. Odell St.
