Not many can say they’re a protégé to the most famous trance DJ in the world, and especially not at 22 years old. Finne Jager, better known as up-and-coming trance DJ and producer Phynn, can claim just that. Hailing from the Netherlands, Phynn first got his start in production by entering a remix contest in 2002, in which he took second place. From there, he continued producing remixes. His 2004 take on Ernesto’s “Stop 9.5” got him much attention, leading to more work with Ernesto, as well as creating remixes for numerous other producers, including Lightscape, Varian and 4 Rising Stars.

It was at some point during his early career that world famous DJ Tiësto took notice. With well over a dozen productions now under his belt, Phynn is exclusively signed to Tiësto’s Black Hole Recordings and was chosen to mix the 11th edition of the annual In Trance We Trust series release in 2006.

After his first release on Black Hole, “Escape,” created with his friend Bart Van Wissen, as well as his 2005 remix of Tiësto’s enormously popular hit track “Adagio for Strings,” Phynn now has his place in the trance music map pretty well set. In January 2006, he was chosen as Mixmag’s Future Hero 2006 and has received support from many internationally known DJs like Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren. He’s also been performing at many big festivals across the world, such as Godskitchen’s Sundance Music Festival in Canada and Trance Energy 2007 in Utrecht, Netherlands, where he performed for a sold-out crowd of 30,000.

Phynn’s rare, first-time appearance in Indy gives trance heads and electronic dance music fans a chance to check out why people love one-year-young Therapy Nightclub & Lounge enough to vote them NUVO’s Reader’s Choice No. 1 “Best Bar or Nightclub” this year on write-in votes alone, no less.

Sharing the bill with Phynn are Therapy residents Topher Jones and Seth Nichols, as well as regulars James B and 100 Proof.
