Blake and Roddick will battle in the finals

The RCA Tennis Championships serves up an all American match today at 1:30.

Andy Roddick secured his spot in the finals yesterday after defeating Robby Ginepri 7-5, 6-3. Roddick served up eight Aces against Ginepri, never giving him the opportunity for a break point.

Roddick, who also teams up with Robby Reynolds for the doubles finals match after the singles match, said that he believes in himself after struggling with his game this past year.

“I’m excited to be back here playing good tennis. And there is no better place than Indianapolis,” Roddick told the crowd.

Blake and Roddick are close friends off the court, so Blake said he expects the match to be “a lot of fun.”

Blake defeated Xavier Malisse yesterday with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Blake said he played totally different sets, referring to the second set that left the crowd questioning the possibility of the all American finals. In the end, Blake won and moved up to No. 5 in ATP rankings. This is also his fifth final.

After the singles match today, Roddick will be given adequate rest before playing in the doubles match. This is the first time since 1988 that a player has advanced to both singles and doubles finals in the RCA Championships. Roddick has not won both titles since 2002 at the U.S. Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas.

Roddick and Reynolds will play the seed three team of Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas. Goldstein and Thomas defeated Justin Gimelstob and Vince Spadea yesterday with a score of 6-0, 4-6, 10-6.
