Nimrod Nation: The Complete Series
3.5 stars
(NR)
With “American Teen” debuting next week, why not check out this enjoyable low-key documentary series from filmmaker Brett Morgan (“The Kid Stays in the Picture”) that travels to rural Watersmeet, Mich., to follow the local high school basketball team, the Nimrods, focusing on the coach, several players and other assorted locals. Don't look for the kind of hyped-up drama you see on reality shows — this is simply a laid-back slice-of-life documentary about small town life. Inspired by an ESPN commercial focusing on unusual sports team names. 232 minutes. DVD INFO: The only extra is an interview with director Morgan.
