• Last week marked the 25th anniversary of the production of the first compact disc.

• UGK took the top spot on the Billboard chart last week, selling more than 150,000 copies.

• Jay-Z topped the inaugural Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings list by banking $34 million in 2006. 50 Cent and Diddy followed his spot.

• The Eagles’ new single, off their upcoming album, Long Road Out of Eden, is streaming on MySpace. The album will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart.

• Neil Young has revealed some new information about his upcoming album, Chrome Dreams II. The album will feature three previously written tracks and seven new ones. No release date has been set.

• Expect an announcement this week on a full Bruce Springsteen tour to promote his upcoming album, Magic.

• Elvis Costello has recorded a cover of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.”

• The bass player for the Violent Femmes, Brian Ritchie, has sued the group’s lead singer, Gordon Gano, saying he was not given the appropriate songwriting credits, costing him a proper share of the group’s earnings. Ritchie also accuses Gano of “trashing the band’s reputation” by allowing Wendy’s to use their song, “Blister in the Sun,” in a commercial.
