• Akon was charged by prosecutors for an incident this summer when he threw a 15-year-old boy off the stage.

• Rumors are circulating that Led Zeppelin and Metallica will be headlining Bonnaroo ’08.

• Radiohead stated that they left EMI records because of a breakdown in negotiations with EMI’s new owner, whom they’ve criticized for having zero experience running a label.

• Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will perform at halftime of Super Bowl 2008.

• High School Musical 2 was the best-selling album of 2007.

• The 25th anniversary edition of Thriller will be released on Feb. 12, 2008. Bonus material will include collaborations by Michael Jackson with Kanye West, Akon and others.

• Filter announced that they are staging a comeback next year.

• Morrissey filed a lawsuit against British magazine NME for failing to apologize after printing a story that claimed he is against immigration to the U.K.
