Monumental origami at the IMA
by Editors Feb 13, 2008

OK, the picture accompanying this preview may strike you as being, well, a bit modest. But believe us when we tell you that Dr. Robert Lang is widely considered one of the foremost origami artists in the world. Lang brings a professional background in physics and engineering to his paper folding art, and he will be creating a monumental origami installation of five great blue herons, each folded from a 6-foot square sheet of paper, in the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Star Studio. The installation will be up from Feb. 17-July 20. Better still, you can watch Lang folding in the Star Studio Feb. 15-17 from 11 a.m.-noon and from 1:30-4 p.m. To see some of Lang’s work, go to www.langorigami.com.
