Martin Atkins Tour
by Jeff Napier Oct 24, 2007

With Pvrenchymv, The Holland Account, Necropharmacon
Melody Inn
Sunday, October 28, 5:30 p.m. book signing, 8 p.m. show, $5, 21+

Martin Atkins is a restless, yet relentless, rock star of the first order. He came to notice after joining Public Image Ltd. From there, he went on to play with Ministry and Killing Joke and founded the influential label, Invisible, as well as founding the revered industrial powerhouse, Pigface. With a résumé like that, it’s only natural that his latest gig finds him teaching America’s young rockers how to tour.

The Melody Inn will briefly turn into a rock ‘n’ roll one-room schoolhouse this Sunday. Instead of reading, writing and ’rithmetic, expect courses in drugs, groupies and how to deal with a 3,000 pound, decrepit Econoline that has broken down in a swamp in the driving rain. Part of a national tour to promote his book, Tour: Smart, Atkins will conduct a seminar and lead a question and answer session, and he will DJ between performances by the bands Pvrenchymv, The Holland Account and Necropharmacon.

Pvrenchymv, an industro-metal band that has been crawling the fringes of the Indy music scene for the past couple years, met Atkins in Chicago at a show, and kept in touch with him. So, when the Tour: Smart tour happened, Atkins’ people called Pvrenchymv — who just happened to be planning a CD release party for their new CD, Shaping the Invisible. Also on the bill is Necropharmacon, a band perfectly suited for the Halloween season.
