Metro Idol begins its sixth season at the Metro Nightclub Thursday, Oct. 4. Held by Rock*Star Promotions, this amateur talent competition has awarded $15,000 in cash and prizes in its previous seasons. Judges are music professionals selected from area colleges and universities. Audience ballots also factor into contestants’ scores. Metro Idol 6: Golden Rule will be divided into eight rounds and a grand finals weekend, which will take place in May 2008. To compete, register at the Metro no later than 10 p.m. on the first, second or third Thursday of the month for a qualifying round. Contestants should be prepared to perform two songs.
