• Pay homage to Frank Sinatra during Danville, Ind.’s “An Evening of Ol’ Blue Eyes,” during which Rob Zappulla, Annie Steele & Michael Henderson will perform at the White Lick Amphitheater in Ellis Park on Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 at the gate. Children age 6 and younger are free.
• Andy Skinner, formerly of Kulture-Entertainment, has purchased The Irving Theater with his business partner and will renovate it by Halloween 2007 to accommodate 1,000 all-ages patrons. They hope to host 150-200 events there a year. The “before” renovation kick-off concert takes place Saturday, Aug. 11 with Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s, Everything, Now! and Jorma & the Movie Bare at 7 p.m., $15, all ages.
• Indiana’s hip-hop group DaFilled has been nominated for the fourth time as a Best Midwest Artist contender in the Underground Music Awards (presented by HipHopPalace.com and Urban Threshold), which will take place Sunday, Aug. 12 at B.B. King’s in Times Square, N.Y. The only Indiana musicians to ever be nominated, DaFilled lives up to their 2004 title of Most Promising Unsigned Group.
