• Matt Conner and Rob Alan of Indianapolis launched a national online music magazine, Stereo Subversion, on Aug. 13 to spotlight “meaningful musicians.” The site will be for fans of Paste and other similar music publications. Learn more at www.stereosubversion.com.

• WXIN/Fox 59 will hold the first local auditions for “Indy Idol” (a preliminary audition for American Idol) Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Madame Walker Theatre from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The first 500 entrants will be auditioned.
