Justin Townes Earle
Spencer’s Stadium Tavern
Saturday, March 31, $7, 8 p.m.

Justin Townes Earle has a big name to live up to, and he does it admirably. Son of Steve Earle and namesake of Townes Van Zandt, it is impossible to talk about the younger Earle and not mention the two great songwriters. Earle has taken the lessons of these two men and created his own sound, building on the tradition of Van Zandt’s songwriting and his musical talent, which he honed while playing with his father’s band.

Earle has been performing music for several years with the Swindlers, a tin-pan/bluegrass/ragtime outfit, and the Distributors, a loud roots rock band. He is now taking his solo show on the road.

Based out of Nashville, Tenn., Earle is touring to promote his first solo EP. Yuma showcases Earle’s rich warm voice, storytelling ability and gentle guitar playing. His songs are smart and well-crafted. The intimate atmosphere of Spencer’s Stadium Tavern will be an ideal location to see Earle perform.
