Listening room songwriters
by Nora Spitznogle Jan 10, 2007

Greg Ziesemer and Kriss Luckett first played together in her former band, Diamonds and Rust. When the band dissolved in 2002, they began performing as a duo. Early gigs at CATH Inc. and Some Guys Pizza and Pasta Grill led to developing a loyal fan base for their all-original music.

Ziesemer and Luckett love the intimate listening rooms like the Indy Hostel. “They are simply the best for our style of music. The patrons are there to hear the music, and seem to hang on every note and lyric, which is the most rewarding experience for any songwriter/performer.”

2006 was a productive year for the pair. They opened for bluegrass great Claire Lynch in April and met Ben Surrat, the renowned Nashville, Tenn., recording engineer. He captured the chemistry of their live performance on an album to be released next month.

Ziesemer and Luckett are looking forward to spending 2007 putting the finishing touches on the CD “Virginia,” starting another recording and continuing to play live shows. They have gigs booked locally and in Nashville.

The evening will be songwriter-in-the-round style with Ziesemer, Luckett and Clodhoppers alum Jerry Maulin. You can expect to hear original folk, bluegrass and Americana in the style of artists such as Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons.
