The next Community Speakers Series lecture at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will feature Richard Wiener on “The Power of Forgiveness.” Wiener lived under the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1939 and was the only Jewish student in a school of Hitler Youths. His home was destroyed and his father was taken to a concentration camp. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Wiener returned to his hometown for a class reunion, initiating a healing experience with his ex-classmates. He later became a honorary citizen of the town. When he returned to the U.S., he created a workshop, “The Power of Forgiveness,” to demonstrate that it is possible to revisit even the most painful life issues. The lecture will take place Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. St. Luke’s is located at 100 W. 86th St.
