Lady Chatterley
3.5 stars (NR) Marina Hands
Gentle, contemplative adaption of “John Thomas and Lady Jane,” the second version of D.H. Lawrence's “Lady Chatterley's Lover” (the third version is the famous one). Set in England, but presented in French with English subtitles, the tale of the budding relationship between Lady Chatterley (Marina Hands) and her gamekeeper Parkin (Jean-Louis Coulloc'h) is nearly three hours long, but moves along nicely, provided you adjust to the leisurely tone. 168 minutes (theatrical release). DVD INFO: The extended European edition runs for 201 minutes, including 40 minutes of never-before-seen footage. Extras include interviews and individual scene commentary.
