This Saturday, from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., the Major Taylor Skatepark (3649 N. Coldspring Road, next to the Velodrome) will host the fourth annual King of the Skatepark sports/music festival. The day will feature over 250 of the best regional BMX and skateboarding athletes; 25 progressive hip-hop, rock, reggae and house acts; 16 DJs; breakdancing; MCing; and BMX demonstrations. A studio recording booth from DeVoe Sounds and a party tent, hosted by Old Soul Entertainment, will also be available, along with a DJ Optimo turntablist expo.

Live performances will include 16th Dynasty, Twilight Sentinels, The Philosophy, Blackberry Jam, Parker Broz, Cleptoz, Partners in Rhyme, Mic Sol Young Cash, 360 Degrees, F1 & US and Rose from 3 Treo.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children 7-13 and 6 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at Bicycle Garage Indy (both locations) and at Rise skateshop in Carmel. For more info: bgindy.com, uvskate.net or indyskate.com.

The event is sponsored by Indianapolis Public Schools to bring awareness to their Skatepass Tutoring Program, whose mission is to reverse the unfavorable dropout rate among high-risk students.
