Four stars
Big Car Gallery; June 6

The three members of the Bloomington-based art collective jinjonjim exhibited new work at Big Car on First Friday. The three have different styles. Crab Jackson paints cartoonish, expressionistic faces; Jeremy Kennedy uses text content in his work; and Shane Edge paints in abstract expressionist mode.  They share, however, an interest in humor, collage and the utilization of a wide variety of media including TV screens and household objects. Their collective work tends to be more interesting than their solo work. An example of their collaborative approach is their painting “Give a Man a Fish” in which a big-eyed subject impales a fish with an artificial hand shaped like a spear. Collaboration is also what Big Car is all about, be it in music, visual arts or gallery administration. Check out the live music every First Friday. www.bigcar.org.
