Award-winning Canadian actor TJ Dawe will perform his one-man comedy show The Slip-Knot at the American Cabaret Theatre May 29 at 7 p.m. The performance is an effort to fundraise for the Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival (colloquially known as IndyFringe), a live, alternative theater festival held annually. Dawe will waive his usual fee in order to maximize the donation, although his schedule prevents him from performing at IndyFringe in August.

“Fringe festivals give back l00 percent of the box office to performers. I want to help fringe festivals raise money so they can continue to support and assist independent artists,” Dawe said.

The Slip-Knot features Dawe’s character reminiscing about three former jobs, including a drugstore shelf stocker, a lost parcel tracker at Christmas and a dumpster delivery man, all of which he describes as “horrible.” The show has toured throughout the U.S. and Canada and has generated positive reviews.

The ACT is located at 401 E. Michigan St. A “Mix&Mingle,” which will include a cash bar, will be held before the performance at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25, $15 for students and Fringe performers, and are available online at indyfringe.org and by phone at 317-522-8099.
